American Bombshell at Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River Park, Indianapolis

Indianapolis-based American Bombshell wowed a hometown crowd when they opened for Skillet, Sevendust and Pop Evil last weekend. The five-piece band put on a well-rehearsed, energetic show and did a great job of getting the crowd pumped up for the other bands in the lineup. What impressed me most was how much fun the guys were having on the stage. Sure, there were the obligatory sneers and snarls (it was a rock show, after all), but there were also lots of grins. Throughout the evening, I saw the band members mingling with the crowd. They were friendly and approachable, and made time to talk to everyone who wanted to chat with them. Toward the end of the night, I happened to catch lead singer JayCee deep in conversation with a little fan. He was on his knees in order to be at her eye level as he told her that he and his band mates were deeply honored that she came out to the show. Her face lit up as he pulled out two official band patches and handed them to her. It was a simple gesture, but I’m sure that little girl will cherish those patches and remember that moment for the rest of her life.
