ALL IN Festival – John Fogerty Sunday, September 4, 2022

Photos and Review by Laura Fox (LLFoxphotos)

If you don’t know who John Fogerty is, you’ve probably been living a woefully sheltered life. The former lead singer of Creedence Clearwater Revival has been singing and playing various instruments for most of his 77 years, and has written some of the biggest hits ever, such as “Proud Mary” and “Bad Moon Rising.” I was super excited to see him perform live at the ALL IN Festival Sunday.

The set was delayed about an hour due to a torrential downpour, but Fogerty and his band were unfazed. After the crew carefully checked the lights and equipment, the show was on. Fogerty was lively, personable, and relaxed on the Grandstand Stage. His sons Shane and Tyler were part of his ensemble, playing guitar and singing alongside their dad.

The 13-song set included mostly CCR songs, along with all the Fogerty hits and a cover of “Heard it Through the Grapevine.” My favorite moment came during the second-to-last song, which was “Bad Moon Rising.” I couldn’t believe my ears when he sang “There’s a bathroom on the right.” Ya gotta love a guy who can sneak in a little joke and not miss a lick!
