AWOLNATION at Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park on July 23, 2024

AWOLNATION was the second act for radio station Indy 103.3's Hullabaloo concert on in Indianapolis on July 23, 2024. It was my first time seeing them live, and I had high expectations. I'm happy to report they met - and exceeded - those expectations.

AWOLNATION's set started strong with "Soul Wars," an energetic 2011 throwback that got the crowd on their feet. Lead singer Aaron Bruno, along with Isaac Carpenter on drums and Zach Irons on lead guitar, kept the crowd enthralled throughout their musically diverse, 10-song set. The setlist spanned AWOLNATION's history, including a new single, "Panoramic View." My personal favorites were "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)," a cover of Blur's "Song 2," and of course their massive hit, "Sail."

Bruno wasn't the most interactive frontman I've ever seen, but his stage presence was amazing. I was fascinated by his distinctive voice, his fluid and graceful dancing, and the way he seemed to feel the music in every pore of his being. It was easy to get caught up in each song as if he was weaving a story with every note.

AWOLNATION, along with Neon Trees, will be on tour in support of 311 through the end of August. Their next (and possibly final) album, The Funky Five, is due out August 30, 2024. You can learn more about that here:
