Grace Potter blessed Indy with an intimate performance at The Vogue Theater in Indianapolis on February 4. Dressed in a one-piece flower-patterned outfit, she appeared as comfortable a she felt in front of fans she seemed to have a deep connection with. She started out with upbeat songs, “Daylight” and “Ah Mary”. She then slowed the tempo a bit and spoke to the audience about her life and inspirations for her songs.
She shared about the time she was driving in the desert and happened to hear an amateur radio broadcast, most likely a kid transmitting to a station from his basement with limited range. She loved the music she heard during that quiet drive and new she would probably not hear that string of songs again. The impact that musical drive had on her was enough to inspire her to write “Repossession”, about reclaiming her creative spirit. The circular pattern of creative inspiration was witnessed, as she shared about the meaning behind her music and paid it forward with a unique performance that certainly inspired me.
