Neon Trees was the first act for radio station Indy 103.3's Hullabaloo concert on a beautiful summer night in Indianapolis on July 23, 2024. Their fun, upbeat set created positive vibes throughout Everwise Amphitheatre at White River State Park, putting the crowd in a great mood for AWOLNATION and headliner 311.
The band, which hails from Provo, Utah, consists of lead vocalist Tyler Glenn, guitarist Chris Allen, bassist Branden Campbell and drummer Elaine Bradley. Guitarist David Charles is also on the road with Neon Trees for this run.
Neon Trees played a well-curated, 7-song set that included their mega-hits such as "Animal," as well as singles from their upcoming album release, "Sink Your Teeth." There was also a fun cover of popular '80s song you're sure to recognize, but I'm not going to spoil the surprise for you.
Glenn did a great job of engaging the crowd. His energy was perfect for Neon Trees' style of music; not too mellow and not too hyper. I will say he didn't have to work too hard to get the crowd moving - the tunes were very danceable. I really liked the songs they played from the new album; they were a more mature, a little nostalgic, and had a little edge to them.
Neon Trees saved fan-favorite tune, "Everybody Talks" for the end of the set. I loved watching everyone dance and sing along; it just made me happy. I hope Neon Trees will come back to Indy soon!
