After the bright, upbeat and energetic performance of Coheed & Cambria, the fans at Everwise Amphitheatre In Indianapolis awaited and prepared for the one and only Primus to take stage. There was an obvious switch in energy as fans came down from the performance they had just seen and eagerly awaited Primus.

Fans began to chant “Primus Sucks!, Primus Sucks!”. As the sun set and the lights dimmed over White River State Park, while the  iconic opening to “Those Damn Blue-Collar Tweakers” rushed through the crowd.

Les Claypool’s iconic voice and bass riffs, coupled with the low lit red stage immediately set the tone for an unforgettable show. The interplay between Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde, and drummer Tim Alexander was tight and dynamic. It was wonderful to hear these three back together.

In between songs Les & Larry made sure to interact with the crowd, cracking jokes and telling stories. Their witty banter added distinctive character to the show and made the big venue feel more intimate and inclusive.

The setlist for the night was very well-curated, including classics like “My Name Is Mud”, and “Tommy the Cat”. Bringing newcomers and long-time fans together. The visuals for the show matched the unique energy that a Primus show brings. With quirky props and immersive visuals being played on screen behind the band complimented each songs aesthetic.

Overall, the performance of Primus was stellar. From laughing to dancing, headbanging to screaming they got it all. The crowd undoubtedly had an amazing time and would remember this show for years to come. It was truly a night of distinctive rock entertainment, and a pleasure to witness.
