Genre-blending band Ripe took to the Music Elevates Stage just in time for the peak of summer's weather on Day One of Indianapolis’ Inagural WonderRoad Festival, playing seventh out of the impressive fourteen set lineup. Blending elements of R&B, pop, funk, rock, and jazz, this Boston-based seven-member band matched the summer heat with their fun, electric energy. Taking pride in playing music that’ll get anyone on their feet, lead vocalist Robbie Wulfsohn took time between songs to encourage listeners to dance along, even demonstrating some easy-to-follow along moves at one point.
True to their R&B and jazzy side, Ripe sported a brass section. Josh Shpak on trumpet and Calvin Barthel on trombone made it easy to get the attention of festival goers even on the opposite side of the venue, beckoning them to come and enjoy their unique performance. Ripe’s family-like spirit helped play off the crowd's energy. Despite technical difficulties before the set, it wasn’t long before the audience felt engaged and connected as Ripe slowly ramped up the groovy vibes until everyone was jamming out and getting down.
