Rob Zombie played to a packed house at Ruoff Music Center August 31, headlining a night of metal that was absolutely insane.

After intense sets by Filter, Ministry, and the amazing Alice Cooper, Zombie took to the stage with an oldie but goodie, "Demon Speeding." The high-energy tune from 2001 set the tone for a supercharged, 15-song set that kept fans on their feet. It was a great mix of older and newer songs that included White Zombie hits as well as tunes off the 2021 chart-topping album, The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy, plus everyone's favorites from in-between.

As always, Zombie put on a spectacular show. The man is a master of crowd engagement. maintaining nearly constant eye contact with the audience. From the minute he appeared, way above the stage on his "balcony," he commanded the attention of his devoted fans, both young and old. His wild hair and clothing, exaggerated expressions, sinous dancing and intense concentration made it hard for anyone to take their eyes off him.

But a Rob Zombie concert isn't just a dude singing and dancing away on the stage. It's a whole experience. Zombie's stage design was dark and creepy, and he brought pyro, clips from old horror flicks, giant monsters, and more.

Zombie brought brought some creepy friends, too. Original guitarist Mike Riggs, original bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson accompanied Zombie, along with longtime drummer Giger Fish. The chemistry between the four of them was powerful, adding to the insanity of the show.

Rob Zombie's Freaks on Parade tour continues through September 18, 2024, then the band will headline Riot Fest in Chicago on Sept. 22.
